Due to various superstitions and prejudices, some women choose not to tell others about their pregnancy until it becomes obvious. However, in the case of an employer, such secrecy is inappropriate, since it can not only cause a negative reaction, but in some sense even harm the expectant mother herself.

First of all, one should remember about the guarantees provided by the Labor Code of the Russian Federation for pregnant women. These include, in particular, the impossibility of dismissal at the initiative of the management during pregnancy and parental leave, including when working on a fixed-term employment contract, the possibility of transferring to another job that excludes harmful effects on the body, while maintaining average earnings for the main place, the opportunity to work part-time or part-time. In addition, it is forbidden for the expectant mother to be involved in overtime work, work at night, on weekends and holidays, as well as to send on business trips. To ensure yourself a comfortable working environment, it is advisable to inform your superiors about your interesting situation as early as possible.

Pregnancy involves regular visits to an obstetrician-gynecologist and various medical examinations, which are most often carried out during working hours. It is also possible that a woman may go on sick leave, so the employer should be aware of the employee's condition in order, if necessary, to temporarily assign her duties to another employee and release her without prejudice to the work process.

Another important factor is material. With a loyal management, you can agree on an increase in wages, and if you do this in advance, you can increase the amount of maternity allowance and parental leave, but, of course, not higher than the legal limits. In addition, some companies provide pregnant women with non-statutory benefits, health insurance that allows them to receive paid medical care and an individual approach to pregnancy and childbirth, as well as additional benefits.

Timely informing the bosses about pregnancy will allow without haste to pick up another employee for the place of the future mother, train him and transfer cases with high quality and full value, taking into account all the nuances. It is undesirable to confront management with a fact shortly before going on maternity leave: in this case, a negative attitude is very likely, which can adversely affect work, salary, and attitude towards the pregnant employee in general.

If a woman has been working in a company for a long time, she can predict the reaction of her superiors to the pregnancy of subordinates using the example of her predecessors who went on maternity leave earlier. But even with the negative experience of colleagues, you should not keep your fortune secret from the immediate supervisor, since he can receive this information from another source, for example, from unfriendly employees, and is very likely to be more disappointed and even angry than if he heard about it firsthand.

It should be remembered that the interests of a pregnant woman are strictly protected by law, so there is no point in being afraid to inform the authorities about the upcoming replenishment of the family. By doing this in a timely manner, there are many benefits to be gained.
