Russia has officially introduced non-refundable air tickets. The cost of "non-refundable" tickets will be lower than those that can be exchanged. In April 2014, the President of Russia signed the corresponding bill. Russian airlines liked this innovation. It is important that passengers will be able to recover the money spent in some cases, using guarantees approved by law.

Step 1
Do not count on a refund of the money spent by purchasing tickets at a "non-refundable" fare, unless you have an exceptional reason stipulated by the new law. In this case, it does not matter at all in what period of time you contact the carrier. Check out the list of approved reasons why you can get your money back.
Step 2
Feel free to demand a refund from the administration of the air carrier in case of your illness, or a family member or next of kin who planned to fly with you. Family members include children, parents and spouses. Under relatives - brothers, sisters, grandchildren, grandfathers and grandmothers. Proof in the form of medical documents is required to get the money back for this reason. The request must be received no later than the end of the flight check-in.
Step 3
Refund the full price of your non-refundable ticket if a family member or close relative has died in your family. Documentation and time requirements are the same as in the previous case.
Step 4
Get your money back from the carrier if it violates contractual obligations for the carriage of passengers by air. This could be a delay, cancellation, departure rescheduling, or other consequences.
Step 5
Be aware that in some circumstances, the airline itself will remove passengers from the flight. There are times when citizens ignore - customs and passport rules; restrictions on the transportation of certain items and substances; requirement of additional payment for baggage in excess of the limit. In addition, some passengers demonstrate unacceptable behavior on board the aircraft, creating unbearable conditions for the flight, or a threat to the life and health of other people. In such scenarios, the costs of the "non-refundable" fare will not be reimbursed to the passenger.
Step 6
Remember, if the airline decides to remove the passenger because his health condition will require special conditions for transportation, then you will be refunded the full cost of the ticket.
Step 7
Please note that foreign airlines have not previously been prohibited by legislation from “non-refundable” fares. So, if you have purchased a non-refundable European airline ticket, you can only get back the additional airport taxes and, in rare cases, the fuel tax. Therefore, first of all, it is better to clarify whether it will be possible to exchange it for other dates or reissue it for another passenger. The conditions of some foreign companies allow this for an additional fee.
