Regardless of the reason for which you want to return the product, provided that it fits under the consumer protection law, you can get your money back. But it is not enough just to know the law - each store may have its own nuances about the return of goods. There is only one rule for all - the goods must be returned if there is a receipt. What if you lost it?
How is an item returned without a receipt?
According to Article 25 of the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights, the absence of a sales receipt or other document confirming the fact of the purchase of the goods does not deprive the buyer of the right to return / exchange the goods (both of proper and inadequate quality).
To return or exchange goods, you will need to provide some evidence that the goods were purchased in this store:
• Related documents. If along with the product there was an instruction manual, a warranty card, or any other document that comes with the product, then if there is a seal in the store, this will be a proof of purchase;
• The buyer has the right to refer to the testimony;
• If the payment was made by a bank card - you can show employees a bank statement about the transfer of funds with an indication of the recipient of the payment;
• If there are surveillance cameras in the department of the store - you can make a request to view the records, specifying the date and approximate time of purchase.
After proving the fact of the purchase, the return procedure does not differ from the usual one.
If, for some reason, you are refused to return the goods without a receipt, although the above conditions of proof of purchase of the goods were met, you can contact the authorities that are engaged in consumer protection. To do this, you will need to draw up a written claim in which you describe the detailed circumstances of the acquisition of goods, indicate witnesses (if any) and your requirements for the organization in which the goods were purchased (replacement / return of goods, elimination of defects or another type of compensation for which you apply).
Return to Leroy Merlin
The procedure for returning goods to Leroy Merlin is different from the standard one. As elsewhere, a return is possible only if the product is included in the list described in the consumer protection law. You cannot return measured goods, tinted paints, goods bought for a cut or goods that have lost their expiration date. And the difference between this organization is that you can return the goods within 100 days, not 14. To do this, you need a personal visit to the store (any) with a cashier's check, your identity document and a bank card, in case the goods was paid to her. And directly with the product.
It is impossible to return the goods without a receipt at all, but the receipt can be restored. You will need to provide proof of purchase. In this case, you need to come to the exact store where the purchase was made and contact the store's information office. Most likely you will be asked to name the date and approximate time of the purchase, the approximate amount of this purchase and other goods from the lost receipt, if any. If the purchase was paid with a bank card, then to speed up the process you need to have it with you.
When the check is restored, you will be able to return the product, provided that it complies with consumer protection law.
