Step 1
There are only two legal ways to repay a debt - it is to file a complaint with law enforcement agencies or a court. All other methods of debt recovery are illegal and have dire consequences. It is against the law to turn to private lawyers or collection agencies, and you can sit in the dock for involving these organizations in debt collection.
Step 2
Contact the law enforcement agencies with a statement in which you describe the situation that has arisen, the time and place of the transfer of money, and indicate how much time has passed since the moment when the debt should be returned. Submit evidence to law enforcement agencies that the debt was actually taken. They accept evidence that witnesses to the incident can provide. Unfortunately, the court cannot take into account the evidence of the witnesses, since there is no receipt and signature of these witnesses. If you were refused to initiate an investigation into the fact of the debt taken, then there is only one way out - to go to court with a certificate from law enforcement agencies.
Step 3
You should know that you can apply to any authorities with a statement about an unpaid debt only within three years from the date the money was issued. After three years, the statute of limitations for repayment of debts expires and this will be a good reason for non-repayment of the debt.
Step 4
In the application that you submit to the court, indicate the exact details of the debtor and your own. Describe clearly the entire situation and the steps you have taken to remedy the situation. Provide evidence. This can be a hidden camera or an audio recording of a conversation between you and your debtor about the time of debt repayment.
Step 5
Only after a court decision has been made, the debt will be forcibly returned to you or the evidence presented will be considered insufficient to return the debt.
