To begin with, ask yourself again what drives you when you decide to run the business of an organization. An accountant is not only a person receiving a high salary. They have to be born. Or rather, to have certain qualities. You must certainly be diligent, scrupulous, intrusive and meticulous. And if you have aspirations to become a chief accountant, then you must be able to take responsibility for your actions.
Instructions
Step 1
Before becoming an accountant, you need to get an education. It doesn't have to be supreme. The main thing is that it should be of practical importance. Already at this stage, show the qualities inherent in a good accountant - scrupulously select training courses. Consult with "seasoned" representatives of the profession.
Step 2
Obtaining a document confirming that you have taken a course is only one small step towards your cherished goal. Please be patient, now the practical activity begins. The next step is to find a person who will teach you all the intricacies of the profession. This is very important for an accountant, because there are many tricks, without the knowledge of which it will be very difficult to work. On average, after 1, 5-2 years, with an irrepressible craving for knowledge, experience will be enough to understand the basic principles of work. From this moment on, the work of a chief accountant in a small organization will not be scary for you.
Step 3
Do not miss a single chance to gain knowledge, understand the work of the organization. From the very beginning, make it a rule to always ask questions of your mentor, chief accountant, and, most importantly, yourself. And why? What happens if I do this? What are the consequences for the entire organization as a whole? How else can you do this? Be sure to find the answer to these questions. After receiving an answer, and having done some action, ask again what it will lead to. Remember that it is better to double-check it once more than to "retrospectively" correct mistakes.
Step 4
Continuously improve your qualifications, study the regulatory framework and read additional literature. To do this, consult with experienced accountants (make contacts), go to seminars, subscribe to special journals for accountants that have a practical focus, and are suitable for the accounting features in your organization (for example, for those who are on the "simplified").
Step 5
In our country, accounting in organizations is divided into accounting and tax. Its peculiarity, in contrast to international standards, is its focus not on the benefits of accounting for the enterprise itself, but on submitting reports on time and paying taxes. Remember these intricacies, but study the international accounting system.
Step 6
Make your job as easy as possible. Develop a document management system, accounting in such a way that you can always easily find the necessary documents, find and eliminate errors. Plan your activities. Do not leave important things to the last minute (for example, reporting), try to do them early.
