Almost every girl sooner or later becomes a mother. And the question of calculating maternity leave is faced by every working woman. The employer is obliged to provide such leave in the last months of pregnancy, as well as in the first period of motherhood.

Maternity leave must be 140 calendar days, namely 70 days before the expected date of birth and 70 days after it. If you are the expectant mother of twins, then you are entitled to 84 days before giving birth and 110 days after this "high point". It should also be noted that in the case of complicated childbirth, for example, a cesarean section, 16 days are added to the maternity leave.
The due date is calculated on the basis of the sick leave, namely from the expected due date, which your doctor should determine for you in the antenatal clinic. Postpartum leave is also calculated from this date, regardless of the actual time of delivery.
Also, a woman is entitled to the main annual paid leave. The expectant mother has the right to take this leave before decree or after parental leave.
Maternity leave is payable. Moreover, according to innovations, a woman herself has the right to determine the method of calculating maternity. Federal law establishes two options. The first option is to pay for maternity leave as well as a simple sick leave. That is, the accountant must calculate the average salary for two years, then divide by 730 (calendar days) and multiply by 140 (the number of vacation days).
The second option is to determine the average earnings over the past 12 months. Next, divide the resulting number by 27 (the number of calendar days in a year) and multiply by 140 (maternity leave).
