If a job offer does not suit you for one reason or another, you have every right to refuse it. It is better not to delay with this: the sooner the failed employer learns that they should not rely on you, the better. Refusal should be formulated politely and tactfully.
Necessary
- - communication skills;
- - email or phone.
Instructions
Step 1
Once you have decided that the offer is not suitable for you, inform the failed employer about it. Let him devote his time to finding other candidates.
Step 2
If you have an agreement with the representative of the failed employer that he will call you or get in touch in a different way, wait for this moment and report your decision at the very beginning of the conversation.
Otherwise, initiate contact yourself.
Step 3
The method of communication depends on how you communicated with the employer representatives in the past. It is optimal to use the one that you practiced most often: if the phone, call, if the e-mail, write a letter, if you used Skype or another similar program, send a message through it when the contact person is online.
Step 4
Be polite, friendly, make it clear that you have nothing personal to the company and its employees, you just received a more interesting offer. It will not be superfluous to apologize for the fact that you have to report not the most pleasant news.
Step 5
Don't go into details until asked. A phrase about a more interesting or advantageous offer will be enough. If they start asking questions, answer to the extent that your relationship with the one from whom you received a different proposal allows. In situations where you were asked not to disclose some information, you must comply with this request.
Step 6
In parting, wish the representative of the failed employer a good day, express your readiness for possible cooperation in other situations. All the same, it does not oblige you or the interlocutor to anything.
