Step 1

To calculate the gross number of working hours, multiply the number of workers employed in the enterprise by the time that was spent on the production of the product in question by their total efforts. It is unlikely that it will be equal to the hours actually spent, which could be the norm. This is explained by the fact that each minute of working time in the production process is used with varying degrees of intensity.

Step 2

Do not forget about lunch breaks, rest. Let's say the company employs 10 workers. The total working time per week is 40 hours. They take two ten-minute breaks a day. The total time that was spent by 10 workers on breaks: (10 minutes * 2 * 5 working days) * 10 workers = 1000 minutes, which in hours equals 16, 7.

Step 3

Now you can calculate the total time spent on production, taking into account rest breaks: 40 hours * 10 - 16, 7 hours = 383 man-hours.

Step 4

For more accurate measurements, consider absenteeism and days of temporary disability of workers. It all depends on the number of holidays that fall at one time or another of the year, and not only on this. If we take the average value of this indicator for the year, then it is equal to 4%. Now recalculate the standard hours taking into account this indicator: 383 - (0.04 * 383) = 367.7 man-hours.

Although this indicator, in turn, would also not hurt to clarify, because labor productivity, if we take into account the working day, is also not the same. So, at the beginning of it, workers spend time preparing for work, and towards the end of the working day, many have already finished work and are going home. And the tool, for example, may become unusable, which will also affect the workflow. Of course, it is impossible to predict when it breaks down and how much time each worker spends preparing for work and getting home, but on average, such losses amount to 7% of working time or more.

If we take into account the above, we get the following formula: 367, 7 - (0, 07 * 367, 7) = 342 man-hours actually available to workers.

Step 7

Calculate your normal hours. If the labor efficiency of the working group in question equals 100%, without exceeding the norm, the number of standard hours will be 342. And if the labor efficiency equals, say, 110%, the workers will already have 342 * 1, 10 = 376, 2 standard hours.

Step 8

Judging by the above information, it can be seen that if a group of 10 workers are assigned an order with an estimated lead time of 400 hours, they will complete it in a working week. Consider this in order to anticipate the problem of not meeting the deadline. You can increase the number of workers who will be engaged in this order, or transfer part of this order to another department.
