The popularity of the event manager profession is growing every year, as is the number of companies wishing to hire a specialist in this profile. Nevertheless, not only employers, but even job seekers applying for such a position, are often not very clear about who an event manager is and what his responsibilities are.
An event manager is a person who organizes various events at a professional level. We are talking not only about corporate parties and holidays, but also about seminars, conferences, promotions, etc. The task of the event manager is to find out the customer's requirements, fully plan the event, negotiate with the right people, organize the event and follow how it goes, correcting errors if necessary. Such a professional must not only find an interesting idea, but also implement it at the highest level.
Event managers can be both official employees and "free artists". It all depends on whether they want to work with a specific company or with different customers. As for education, it is not very important in this case: a designer, an engineer, and a psychologist can become a good event manager. Of course, it is desirable to get a specialized education or at least take special courses, but the profession of an event manager is still quite young, so experience and the presence of the necessary personal qualities for its representative are more important than a diploma.
The character traits required for an event manager are worth discussing separately. First of all, this is sociability and tact, the ability to easily converge with people and achieve the desired result from them. For a representative of such a profession, it is important to be a good psychologist, to feel people and find an individual approach to each of them. No less important are stress resistance, responsibility, the ability to bring the work started to the end. Customers vary as well as their requirements, but the event manager must remain calm and polite under all circumstances. And, finally, it is very important to learn how to come up with your own ideas or use someone else's correctly, create interesting scenarios that will fully meet the client's requirements, and implement your plans, calculating everything to the smallest detail.
