Every driver knows that traffic rules must be followed. Nevertheless, sometimes even disciplined drivers unknowingly violate traffic rules only because they did not fully understand their interpretations. In particular, this often happens when overtaking.
Overtaking, especially on narrow roads and in poor visibility conditions, is one of the most dangerous maneuvers. According to the rules of the road, overtaking should be considered to be ahead of another vehicle, if at the same time it is necessary to leave the occupied lane. At the same time, an important clarification has been added to the rules, saying that if your car moves in its own lane at a higher speed than the car moves in the adjacent lane, then it will not be considered overtaking. Despite the fact that everything is described in the rules seems to be quite understandable, many drivers are fined for violating the rules of overtaking. For example, until recently, you could have been fined for the fact that, having started overtaking through a broken marking line, you returned to your lane through the solid line that appeared. In this case, you could be accused of driving into the oncoming lane. Having considered the logic of the situation, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation decided not to consider such overtaking as a violation of the rules. Once in such a situation, feel free to defend your rights. Is it possible to overtake in the area of the “Overtaking is prohibited” sign? The answer seems to be obvious - no, you can't. But in the traffic rules there is a clarification - overtaking is allowed if the vehicle moving in front of you has a speed of less than 30 km / h. The same goes for crossing a solid line - it can be crossed to overtake a slow-moving vehicle (speed less than 30 km / h). Therefore, you can overtake a leisurely moving tractor or combine - even if the inspector stops you, refer to the traffic rules, and you will be released - because you are right. At the same time, you should not tempt fate once again - it is better to signal the tractor driver so that he pulls over to the side of the road and let you pass, this is his direct responsibility. Another situation: you are in the left lane, to your left is a double solid line. There is a standing car in front of you, blocking the road. What should you do in this situation so as not to break the rules? If it is possible to bypass a parked car on the right, this is exactly what you must do. Overtaking to the left through a double line would be a violation. But if there is no way to go around a stationary car on the right, you have the right to cross a double solid line - of course, making sure that this maneuver is safe. What should be considered a traffic violation? Any actions of the driver that do not correspond to them. For example, you are overtaking and entering the oncoming lane at the end of an uphill or before a right turn. There are no prohibition signs, but if the inspector sees your maneuver, you will definitely be deprived of your rights. There are a lot of similar situations that an inexperienced driver can get into. There is only one way out - to carefully study the rules of the road, using specific examples, studying various situations on the road.
