Step 1
Make sure that the garage that you have been using for many years and that you used to think is yours really belongs to you from a legal point of view. It often happens that when checking the nature of the documents confirming the ownership of such property, it turns out that this was usually a handwritten certificate issued by the chairman of the garage cooperative who had long been deprived of his powers. In this case, take care of the correct registration of the certificate of ownership of the garage. If you have it, make a copy of it, it may be required in the process of registering an inheritance.

Write a sample will. Remember that in accordance with the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, a citizen can bequeath any property belonging to him to any person at his discretion. Thus, the testator is not limited in the choice of the person to whom the garage can be transferred after his death. Moreover, such a person may not be a relative of the owner of the property. However, please note that in the event that the owner of the garage or other tangible assets did not leave a will, the distribution of his property after his death will be carried out in accordance with the law. In this case, only the closest relatives of the deceased owner will be able to get a garage or other property.
Step 3
Visit a notary office. You can choose any notary based on your own preference. For example, you can choose a notary office with a convenient working schedule, located close to home, or one where there are usually few visitors. Show the will of your will to the notary: perhaps he will propose to make any changes, amendments or additions to it in order to ensure its compliance with the requirements of the current legislation. The final text of the document can be printed on a printer or written by the testator in his own hand - the Civil Code of the Russian Federation allows both options for drawing up a will. However, it should be borne in mind that a mandatory requirement is the presence of the compiler's handwritten signature on it. The notary must certify the authenticity of this signature affixed in his presence.
