Every Russian citizen 14 years old and older must have his own passport. At 20 and 45 years old, the passport blank must be replaced. You will also have to draw up a new document in the event of a change in personal data (surname, name, gender, etc.), appearance and, of course, if the form of your document has become unusable or simply disappeared.

Necessary

  • • To write an application;
  • • pay the state duty;
  • • take photographs 35x45 mm;
  • • submit documents.

Instructions

Step 1

Take 2 photos 35x45 mm. If you intend to obtain a temporary ID card of a citizen of the Russian Federation at the time of issuing a new passport, you will need 4 photos. In some divisions of the FMS of Russia, it is possible to take photographs when submitting an application.

Step 2

Pay the state fee. Specify the amount of the fee in advance, since the amount charged for issuing a new document instead of a document that has become unusable or lost is slightly higher than in other cases.

Step 3

Contact the regional body of the FMS of Russia (passport office) at your place of residence or stay. Take with you photos and a receipt for payment of the state duty, as well as:

• birth certificate (when issuing a new passport upon reaching the age of 14);

• documents confirming the change in personal data;

• documents required for putting mandatory marks on the new passport blank (certificates of birth of children, marriage / divorce, military ID, etc.);

• old passport blank (in case of replacement);

• documents confirming the citizenship of the Russian Federation (if citizenship needs to be clarified).

Step 4

Fill out the application form for the issuance / replacement of a passport of the established form. This application can be drawn up either by hand or on a printer or typewriter. Please note that the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services of the Russian Federation allows its registered users to apply for a passport online.

Step 5

Submit the completed application to the employee of the FMS department along with the old passport form and other necessary documents. Get a temporary ID if you need one. Check the date when your new passport will be ready.

Step 6

Visit your FMS territorial unit at the appointed time. Check the information on the passport form. If you find any inaccuracies during the check, inform the FMS employee about it immediately. You do not have to pay the fee for the corrected form again.

Step 7

Submit your temporary identity card to the FMS officer, if you received one. Place samples of your signature on the passport form and on the passport application. Receive from the employee all the documents that you handed over to him for affixing the mandatory marks, and take your new passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
