When a certificate of temporary incapacity for work is issued

You can get sick leave in several cases:

1. When an employee gets sick or injured.

2. In case of illness of a child under 15 years of age.

3. If necessary, caring for a sick relative.

4. Sick leave is issued to a woman for pregnancy and childbirth.

5. In some cases, with complex dental treatment, sick leave is also issued.

6. The preoperative, operational and recovery period also imply the issuance of a temporary disability certificate by the employee.

The maximum duration of the sick leave is determined by the degree of the disease or the nature of the injury, as well as the reasons for which the sick leave was issued. Different doctors have their own restrictions on the period for which they can send a person to sick leave. So, a dentist cannot write out a temporary disability certificate for more than 10 days, and a general practitioner can extend sick leave up to 30 days.

Sick leave

In the event of a cold, the doctor sends the employee to sick leave for up to 5 days. If there is no improvement, then under the supervision of a doctor, the sick leave is extended up to 30 days. In more difficult cases, when recovery did not occur during the specified period, a medical commission is appointed. It is attended by the chief physician, the attending doctor and several other specialists. By the decision of the commission, the sheet of temporary incapacity for work can be extended up to 10 or even 12 months. At the same time, the commission continues to monitor the recovery process of the patient and once a month assess his condition.

The dentist for dental prosthetics and in some other cases gives a sick leave for 5-10 days. Sometimes complications arise, therefore, a commission of doctors is also convened, which at a general meeting decides on the timing necessary for the onset of improvements in the patient.

Sick leave in case of surgery

In general, if surgery is necessary, a sick leave is issued for the entire period of a person's stay in the hospital. The postoperative period, aimed at restoring the body, lasts 10 days. At the same time, the days required for the journey from the medical institution to the employee's place of residence are added to the sick leave period. This is necessary if the operation is carried out with another city or country. The medical commission can also extend the duration of the sick leave for up to 1 year.

Sick leave for care

If an employee needs to take care of a sick adult relative, then he can receive a certificate of temporary incapacity for work for up to 10 days. In case of illness of a child under the age of 7 years, the parent can be on sick leave until the child recovers. If a child whose age is 7-15 years old falls ill, then a sick leave is issued for no more than 15 days in the case of treatment at home and for the entire period of treatment in a hospital.

Sick leave for pregnancy and childbirth

The average sick leave in this case is 140 days. In this case, the gynecologist issues a sick leave to a woman at 30 weeks of pregnancy. The duration of the sick leave is immediately established at 140 days on the basis of 70 days for the prenatal period and another 70 for the postnatal period. For women expecting two or more children at once, a certificate of temporary disability is issued for 194 days. The duration of the sick leave for pregnancy and childbirth is considered on a case-by-case basis. So, if complications occur during childbirth, the duration of the sick leave is increased by 16 days.
