Instructions
Step 1
Get a certificate of death of the deceased. If a person died while in hospital, an autopsy will be performed in the hospital and a conclusion on the cause of death will be issued. If the deceased was regularly observed by a local therapist, having any chronic disease, then you can get such a certificate at the clinic.
Step 2
Call the police. This should be done if the deceased has not been seen in the clinic for a long time or died outside the home. Law enforcement officers are required to come and certify death. Next, you need to call the morgue service. They will take the body for an autopsy. Then you will be able to receive a certificate of death, which will indicate its cause.
Step 3
Having on hand a medical certificate of death, go to the district registry office. Do not forget to bring your passport and the passport of the deceased. In a few days, you will be able to receive a death certificate. The registry office staff may refuse to issue you a certificate if they have doubts about your relationship with the deceased, so take documents confirming this with you (for example, a marriage certificate). The passport will be destroyed.
Step 4
If for some reason it is not possible to present the deceased's passport, then you will receive a court decision, which will be the basis for deregistration. For example, a citizen can be declared dead by a court, provided that there is no information about his place of residence at his place of residence for 5 years (clause 1 of article 45 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation). In this case, you need to submit an application to the court for recognizing the person as dead, and then, on the basis of a court decision, write him out.
Step 5
Go to the district department of the passport and visa service. Take the passport and death certificate of the deceased. Write a statement to deregister the deceased. You can make sure that the deceased was discharged from your apartment by going to the housing office and requesting an extract from the house book.
