According to statistics, for every thirty weddings held, there is one failed due to the refusal of one or both applicants after they applied for marriage registration. The consent of the other party is not required for this, so both the groom and the bride can withdraw the marriage application.

Step 1
It is not necessary to notify the bride (groom) about your refusal from the wedding, but it is still advisable to do this - these are the elementary rules of good form. Any of the applicants, before registering the marriage, can apply to the registry office to cancel the wedding.
Step 2
Contact the employee of the branch of the registry office where you applied for marriage, show your passport and notify the employee that you are going to pick up your application. Although this is not entirely accurate formulation, since the application will remain in the archives of the state institution, and you will only write a refusal to register the marriage.
Step 3
There is no clearly established form of application for refusal to register a marriage, so you can write it in a free style. In the upper right corner of the sheet, write the name of the registry office where you are applying, your full name, address and passport data. In the text of the refusal, you do not need to indicate the reasons, it is enough just to indicate the full name of the second failed spouse and indicate your desire to cancel the marriage registration. Date and sign at the end.
Step 4
You can, of course, just not come to the wedding if both of you decide that you need to postpone it. However, this behavior is disrespectful towards other couples and the registry office employees themselves, who are preparing for each ceremony.
Step 5
Please be aware that the state fee you paid when you applied will not be refunded. This norm is fixed in the Tax Code of the Russian Federation. If you only need to postpone the date of the wedding, you can do this for no more than one month, otherwise you will have to submit all documents again.
