There is a direct link between the efficiency of a person's work and how comfortable they are. A special discipline - ergonomics - considers, among other things, how to organize the workplace.
There are guidelines for workspace size, lighting, noise levels, and other conditions to make the workspace as comfortable as possible. Feng Shui experts have also contributed, their advice on what a room should be for work is not substantiated from the point of view of official science, but very effective. Unfortunately, there is no article in the Labor Code according to which the employer is obliged to provide the employee with a workplace, taking into account the rules of ergonomics or feng shui. But, since the success of work is reflected in earnings, the employee himself does not interfere with taking care of his convenience. Here are some simple guidelines that you can follow to make the office worker's workplace more convenient and work more productive.
- remove from the desktop everything that is not related to work. Teddy bears, flowers and colorful stickers belong at home, not at work. If you want to decorate your workplace, it is better to choose work tools with attractive designs. Foreign objects will be distracting. Exception for bright sticky notes that can be used to record reminders. This is more convenient than a notepad, where you can skip the desired entry;
- the monitor stand should be of a suitable height, the keyboard is located comfortably for the hands, the monitor is located at a convenient distance for the eyes, the chair - with a comfortable back that allows the back not to strain, with the ability to adjust the seat height and backrest tilt;
- pay special attention to lighting. Dim, diffused light is ideal. If the table is near the window, then the bright sun will shine, either in the eyes or in the monitor, making it difficult to work. In this case, blinds or blackout curtains will help;
- let there be a small cardboard box next to the work table. Pens, notes, and drafts that have stopped writing are sent there and sorted at the end of the day;
- all materials for work and documents are best kept close at hand so that you can reach them without getting up. But you do not need to keep them neat piles of topics, if creative disorder is closer - it will take more effort to maintain an ideal order than to find what you need in papers spread out without any system. But documents and records on completed projects are recommended to be removed from the desktop to the place allotted for them;
- the desktop should not stand in a draft. The room needs to be ventilated several times a day, but it is not advisable not to leave it for this time and get back pain;
- before leaving home, you need to tidy up the desktop, throw out the trash and wipe all surfaces with antibacterial wipes. It is better to start the morning in a clean room.
All these tips on how to organize your workplace are very simple. They are easy to follow, will benefit the production process, make the employee feel good, and keep them productive.
