Rest is necessary for a person. It's not even about physical health. Labor efficiency directly depends on the change of activity. A person simply cannot work productively for a long time. As a result, the quality of labor falls noticeably, and more time is required.

We are talking above about short-term vacations like breaks and weekends, but what about vacations? Doctors and psychologists say that long-term rest is essential. However, there are cases, especially in business, when people worked for several years without long breaks and reached great heights. So this question cannot be answered unequivocally, it is necessary to consider the main positive and negative aspects.

Positive sides

More profit. Sometimes people become workaholics in order to earn money for something. Of course, vacation involves getting paid, but you can earn more at work. In addition, working while on vacation can seriously affect the amount of bonuses paid and promotions.

You are provided with a job. It happens that a person has absolutely nothing to do, and work helps to find a certain meaning. From the point of view of psychology, this is good, since a person consciously strives for what he likes. This avoids depression and other negative consequences.

Negative sides

You are risking your health. Burnout is a common problem today. A person gives all his strength to his career, which leads to a serious deterioration in health. Back problems, stomach ulcers, decreased immunity, chronic fatigue syndrome are the most common problems associated with workaholism.

Psychological problems. Despite your own satisfaction, much more serious problems can arise. Life begins to lose color, becomes boring and monotonous. Vacation allows you to change your environment, live a little for yourself and meet new people.

Relationships deteriorate. It is unlikely that the family wants you to sit at work instead of spending time together. In addition, you could spend your vacation at work in a good company of friends or relatives. If you do not pay enough attention to the relationship, they will deteriorate sooner or later.

Decision-making

If you are not an avid workaholic, then you can refuse to take a vacation in certain situations. For example, if it allows you to get a raise or if you urgently need money. In other situations, it is better to rest after all.

Check with your friends and family about what they say and what they advise. Ask bosses and colleagues. This will clarify the situation. Maybe your boss will ask you to take a break or give up your vacation.
