Theater is a democratic art. All that is necessary for the realization of the performance is a few actors and a text that really excites the director. The relevance of the play has nothing to do with the time of its creation. This is easy to see if we turn to classical works. Nevertheless, many directors are also interested in contemporary drama.

Instructions
Step 1
Agree with the author of the play about the production. This must be done for two reasons. Firstly, because the play is an intellectual work and the property of the author, therefore it is impossible to stage it without the consent of the playwright. Second, talking to the author will help you (as a director) get deeper into the essence of the text. The author can be contacted via the Internet or met in person. As a rule, playwrights (especially beginners) go to a meeting and willingly give their texts for staging.
Step 2
Read the play several times, and talk to the author about points that worried you or remained unclear. Consider suggesting a play to people you trust (colleagues or friends). Your task is to immerse yourself in the material, to navigate freely in it. But the most important thing is to articulate what exactly is the central idea of this play and how you are going to implement it.
Step 3
Find a room where you can spend the amount of time you need to rehearse. Arrange with a theater or youth club. Finding a room is not a problem. It may even be your apartment, especially during the first rehearsal stage, which is multiple joint proofreading of the piece.
Step 4
Pick up actors. If you are an aspiring director, you can start attending various performances in order to identify the most suitable actors for your idea. Offer them to participate in the project. If you manage to get people interested, even professional actors can agree to participate for free.
Step 5
Conduct a collective reading of the play, assign roles. At the same time, it will not be superfluous to take into account the wishes of the actors themselves. It may be worth listening to them, if only because it can open up a new side of the play for you. During the first rehearsals, discuss with the actors the characters and behaviors of their characters on stage. Make rehearsals regular.
Step 6
Think over the musical arrangement of the play, scenery, light. Invite a costume designer to collaborate. Discuss each character in the play with him. Find the connection between the appearance and character of the hero, reflect this in the costume of the characters.
