According to the law, transport tax benefits are regulated by the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which means that the region matters. There are regions where labor veterans pay tax, and there are regions where they are fully or partially exempt from the tax.
The subjects of the Russian Federation determine the amount of the benefit and the conditions for obtaining it The most common among them is that the power of the car is not higher than 100-200 hp.
By region, it looks like this:
- in Moscow there are no benefits, in the Moscow region - 50%, but only for motorcycles and cars;
- in St. Petersburg the discount is 100%, but the car must not be more powerful than 200 hp;
- in the Leningrad region there is also a 100% discount, but only for cars with a capacity of up to 150 hp.
- in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Volgograd and Chelyabinsk Regions - 100%, if the power of the machine is up to 100-150 hp.
- in the Trans-Baikal Territory, Rostov and Voronezh Regions 100% discount on transport without restrictions.
- in the Krasnodar Territory and the Irkutsk Region, a labor veteran receives a 100% discount on land and water transport, if it meets the capacity criterion.
But being a labor veteran is not enough to qualify for the benefit. We need the title of Hero of Socialist Labor and a full Knight of the Order of Labor Glory.
In most regions of the Russian Federation, a veteran of labor and a Hero of Socialist Labor will be enough. But in the Chelyabinsk Region, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk Territory, one must also be a full cavalier of the Order of Labor Glory.
How to get a benefit
You need to write an application to the tax office, attaching documents to it that confirm the status of the beneficiary.
A sample application can be downloaded from the official website of the Federal Tax Service or you can take the form from the IFTS of your hometown. Indicate in the application:
- IFTS number in the upper right corner;
- type of tax - transport;
- the basis for the benefit is a certificate of a labor veteran, for example;
- details of the car;
- taxpayer data: full name, TIN, phone number and email;
- from what date the benefit is needed;
- the term of the benefit - indefinitely or for a period.
Attach a copy of a labor veteran's certificate, order book or other documents confirming the right to benefits to the application. Sometimes you need copies of your passport, TCP and STS. You can find out about this in the city IFTS.
How and where to send documents
You can send in person, by registered mail or through a representative. Personally - the safest and fastest way, registered mail is the slowest.
The application and copies of documents must be brought to the tax office at the place of registration. The address can be found on the FTS website.
