Receiving an inheritance is not an easy procedure in itself. It becomes even more difficult if you are not exactly sure whether they left you an inheritance and who did it. However, there is a way to get this information.

Step 1
Find out if any family member or acquaintance has died who might have left you an inheritance. In the Russian practice of notaries, the recipient of money or property is not notified of this, therefore you can obtain such information only on your own, for example, through personal contacts with a person, and if they are not there, then through his friends or neighbors.
Step 2
Not more than six months after the death of a potential testator, contact a notary who should be in charge of opening an inheritance case. A certain region or settlement is assigned to such a notary. You can find out his address and telephone number through government agencies that regulate the activities of notaries. For example, in Moscow, the Moscow City Notary Chamber is engaged in this.
Step 3
When visiting a notary, bring your passport, as well as documents proving your relationship with the deceased. If there are no blood and marital ties between you, information will be provided to you only if you are indicated in the will. Check if the inheritance case has already been opened before. If not, you will need to obtain and provide a lawyer with a testator's death certificate in order to open it.
Step 4
Obtain a list of additional documents from the notary, if required. After completing the case with the necessary papers, six months after the death of a person, you will be able to receive a certificate of the right to inheritance.
