The Dorogomilovsky District Court of the city of Moscow is one of the many courts of general jurisdiction in the Russian capital, which administers justice in its jurisdiction and defends the rights of Russian citizens.

The Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow traces its history back to the 60s of the XX century. At that time, the court bore the name - Kiev People's Court of the city of Moscow and was located at the address: Moscow, Sivtsev Vrazhek lane, house 25. Then the court changed its location and in 1971 moved to Studencheskaya Street at 36, where it is located to the present time. With the collapse of the USSR and the establishment of new Russian legislation, the court was renamed into the Dorogomilovsky District Court of the city of Moscow.

This institution belongs to the courts of general jurisdiction. Its competence includes consideration of civil, criminal and administrative cases with the participation of individuals and legal entities as a court of first instance in accordance with the jurisdiction determined by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the court is an appellate instance for complaints against decisions of justices of the peace of ten judicial districts, which operate on the territory of the judicial area under the jurisdiction of the Dorogomilovsky District Court, and decisions of officials in cases of administrative offenses.
