If you temporarily live in the Russian Federation, then you can get the right to drive a car on an equal basis with residents of Russia. To do this, follow a few mandatory steps:

Step 1
If you already have an international driving license or a driving license of a foreign state that was previously part of the USSR, which comply with the Vienna Convention of 1968, you have the right to drive a vehicle of the permitted category, provided that the information in your license, if it is written by the national alphabet, duplicated in Latin letters. This is important, for example, for citizens of Georgia or Armenia. If the certificate does not meet the requirements of the said convention, it must have a translation into Russian, necessarily certified by a notary.
Step 2
If you are just going to get a driver's license, then you should contact the traffic police department that provides services to foreign citizens. You will be assigned an exam day.
Step 3
If you still do not know how to drive a car, go through training in any driving school to drive a vehicle of the category you need and get a certificate of obtaining the necessary knowledge and skills. In any case, training will be paid, but you will take the exam in a special department of the traffic police.
Step 4
After passing the driving test, you will receive your license for the period of validity of your registration for the right to stay in Russia.
Step 5
If you are an employee of the diplomatic service, an employee of a consular office or a representative of an international organization, you have the right to obtain a Russian-style driving license, provided that you already had a driver's license issued in another state.
Step 6
If you have moved to Russia for permanent residence, then the driver's license of another country will become invalid in two months after receiving a mark of permanent registration in the Russian Federation. You will have to replace your driver's license in accordance with the established legislation.
