A person who has lost a work book has two options for obtaining a new one. The first option is to contact the previous employer with a request to issue him a duplicate in exchange for the lost one. According to clause 31 of the "Rules for maintaining and storing work books, making work book forms and providing employers with them", which are approved by the RF Government decree of 04.16.2003, the employer must issue a document to the former employee within 15 days from the date of application. The employer makes entries in the duplicate in the total amount, without specifying where, with which employer, in what period of time and in what position the owner of the work book worked. If the former employer is at a distant distance from the employee, it will be easier to request a duplicate work book when applying for new place of work. In this case, when drawing up a document in the personnel department, it will be necessary to submit certificates from past places of work, confirming the length of service. Proofs will also be employment contracts, extracts from orders of appointment to work, personal accounts, check books, payroll and other certificates of labor activity. Information about work experience at an enterprise that has been liquidated is requested in the archives. If it is impossible to obtain documents confirming work experience, a person has the right to apply for the necessary information to the department of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, where the information on individual (personified) accounting contains data on where, when and how long the citizen worked. When collecting evidence that the employee was employed in a particular enterprise, the testimony of colleagues at work or direct supervisors is also taken into account. This especially affects the positive decision of the judge when confirming the length of service in court.
