In accordance with the Labor Code of Russia, there are only 12 holidays a year. But, since they all "float" on the calendar, the residents often get confused about the definition of days off.

Step 1
The twelve main non-working holidays are spelled out in article 112 of the Labor Code. These are the days from January 1 to January 5 inclusive, January 7 (Christmas), February 23 (Defender of the Fatherland Day), then International Women's Day - March 8, Spring and Labor Day, aka May Day - May 1, Victory Day May 9, Russia Day 12 June. Then all citizens work right up to November and only on November 4 do they rest on National Unity Day. These dates are not so difficult to remember. They are always non-working and never carried over.

The need to reschedule weekends and working days arises when the holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday. And also (but not always) if one working day falls between regular weekends and holidays. For example, in 2012, May 1 falls on a Tuesday. In order to optimize the work schedule in the country, the Government is deciding on the transfers. So, in 2012, she decided to postpone Saturday, April 28, to Monday, 30th. And residents officially worked on Saturday, but then rested for three days in a row.
Step 3
It is important to know such transfers for all residents of the country, even for those who for some reason do not work. Most state, municipal institutions depend on government-approved weekend transfers. It's easy to figure out the dates. They are planned for a year in advance. The relevant government regulations are published in official sources. And in connection with them, a production calendar is drawn up at each enterprise, which indicates all holidays and non-working days, as well as the number of working hours. After all, pre-holiday working days end an hour earlier than usual.
