Tourists going on vacation to Egypt often ask themselves the question: how to take out the goods? What is needed for this? What problems may arise at customs?
There are two types of export of goods: for personal purposes, or as a commercial batch. Each case needs to be considered separately, because the export process is completely different. There are also certain prohibitions: some goods simply cannot be exported from Egypt.
Export ban
Egyptian customs are very strict about bans on goods exported from the country. In particular, it is strictly forbidden to export shells, sea urchins and corals if there is no receipt for their purchase. If there are no checks, then customs officials may impose a fine of $ 1000. Another ban is the export of currency. It is best to exchange Egyptian lira for dollars before departure. Then there will be no problem. If the customs officers find the local currency, they will simply take it away. Care should be taken when purchasing items that look like antiques. It would be best to demand from the seller of jugs and plates a certificate stating that the goods sold are not the property of the country. It is also worth keeping all receipts after the purchase. Otherwise, it could lead to a fine.
Personal goods
First of all, it is worth touching upon the issue of the export of precious metals. There should be no more than $ 3000 in your luggage. If it turns out that the amount is an order of magnitude more, then it will be very difficult to prove to the customs officers that all this is for personal use.
It is allowed to export goods without a customs declaration for an amount not exceeding 200 Egyptian pounds. This amount is quite small. In translation, it will be equal to approximately 1000 rubles.
Goods exported for commercial purposes
When entering Egypt, every tourist is obliged to declare all his jewelry, as well as electronic equipment. Otherwise, the imported goods will be confiscated or deposited for a fee. When leaving, thanks to this declaration, it will be seen which goods were present at the tourist at the time of arrival in the country, and which were purchased in Egypt. Also, upon departure, it will be necessary to present all the cameras that were declared at the time of entry.
Possible problems when entering Russia
The export of goods is not so much interested in customs officers than import. When importing commercial consignments from Egypt to Russia, their owner is obliged to pay a duty equal to either 30% of the value of the goods, or € 4 for each 1 kg of imported goods.
According to the Customs Code, goods for personal use are goods whose customs value does not exceed € 1,500, and the weight of goods must not exceed 50 kg. If the cost or weight is higher than the established norm, then such goods can no longer be considered goods for personal use.
