Moving up the career ladder is a kind of art. Fortunately, it can be learned by following simple rules.

1. Be clear about where you are going

As an old Russian proverb says, "if you chase two hares, you won't catch a single one." Spraying in several directions at once is not the best idea. You may never succeed in any of them, and as a result, having experienced strong disappointment, you generally give up trying to do something. You should clearly define where you want to be in 3-5-10 years and focus on achieving this very goal. Otherwise, unfortunately, instead of climbing the career ladder, you will slide down smoothly.

2. Ask and give advice

Don't be afraid to give slack and ask your colleagues for advice. They may quite accidentally turn out to be well aware of a topic of interest to you, give you the necessary contacts or recommend a useful article. But also be prepared to respond kindly to kindness and give advice or help yourself if asked. Make connections for the future so that if something happens, you already know who to turn to.

3. "To stay put, you have to run."

This quote is more relevant than ever in our crazy time. Everything around is changing at the speed of light, and someone has time to adapt, and someone does not. The latter, unfortunately, remain overboard. That is why it is so important to constantly learn something new and immediately implement it into work.

4. Ambition is good

In our society, there is a stereotype about the "punishability of initiative", although this is not entirely the case. It is proactivity and a desire to act that distinguish a successful employee from his less successful colleagues. So it's worth taking your life your own hands and taking a chance. Better to try and be wrong than sit unnoticed. But what if you still succeed?

5. Be self-sufficient

The center of your own universe should not be at work, but at you. Only by finding a balance between all the important areas of life, such as family, health, friendship, etc., can you consider your life stable.

6. Do what you love

Try to love your job, not do it somehow. And in parallel, look for your favorite business and achieve what you want. Make your work a pleasure and success will not keep you waiting.

7. Plan horizontal career moves

A career doesn't necessarily mean a constant climb to the top. Sometimes getting out of your comfort zone when you start doing a related activity greatly expands your horizon of vision for the company and the industry as a whole.

8. Simplify

Very often, the simplest solution is the right one. If you are not sure that you have correctly understood the task at hand, just ask again. Do not waste precious time thinking, go for it. Don't complicate things and remove doubts.

9. Build and manage the right communications

Learn to speak beautifully, listen attentively and convincingly convey your thought, because 80% of all working time we spend in communication. So our success mainly depends on the ability to communicate correctly.

10. Focus on Priority Goals

Learn to clearly think through each step on the way to achieving your goals. Don't try to grab onto everything at once, such useless multitasking doesn't work. Expend as much time and effort as possible for the important things, and do the rest in the remaining time and using possible efforts. Remember the Pareto principle: 20% of actions give 80% of the result.
