Manufacturing is a rather laborious and complex process. Some enterprises manufacture one type of product with a single technological cycle, while others have a fairly wide range of finished products. And in fact, and in another case, you can not do without production planning.
Instructions
Step 1
The construction of an effective planning system should be based on what needs to be produced for the market, what is needed to produce a given volume of products, what resources are already available, and what is lacking. The answers to these questions will be the main points of the production plan.
Step 2
This plan consists of several levels. Each of them has its own tasks, methods of achieving them, as well as the duration of the period and the amount of detail. The most general planning issues should be outlined in the strategic business plan. As a rule, it determines the position of the enterprise on the market in the future, in 5-10 years. The strategic plan provides an overview of the role of the firm, the output and the desired outcome. These plans are reviewed every 6-12 months.
Step 3
After determining the strategy, the firms decide the issue related to the volume of products that need to be produced. To do this, they establish how much material and labor resources will be required, what the enterprise already has (equipment, supplies, labor). All this is recorded in the production plan. However, the detailing in it is carried out mainly by product groups, moreover, the planning period is usually 1 year.
Step 4
More specific volumes and types of production are set in the master schedule. It specifies not only the groups of goods produced, but also individual products, assemblies, and aggregates. The calendar plan is drawn up for the nearest future for 1-3 months, and can be revised every week.
Step 5
To produce goods that are provided for by the main schedule, you need to provide the material and technical base of production. A resource requirement plan is used for this purpose. It indicates the approximate timing of the release of certain products, as well as the delivery time of materials, labor and other resources necessary for their production. It is aligned with the schedule and is also subject to weekly revision.
Step 6
At each stage of production, control over the progress of work is carried out, as well as the degree of compliance with the strategic and timetable.
