Finding a person who is tidy, responsible, and able to maintain order in the office can be difficult. Especially if the amount expected to pay for his labor is not high. But this is possible if you try to take into account not only the interests of the employer, but also take care of attractive working conditions for the cleaning lady.
Before looking for an employee for this vacancy, it is worth considering: under what conditions a decent, neat and obligatory person will agree to do such work for a small fee.
Working conditions
Most likely, such a person will be the one for whom the cleaning job will not be the main one, but it will serve as a good way to add some more money to the main income.
This means that the prospective candidate must either already work somewhere or have another stable source of income. But such people, as a rule, cannot devote a full day to cleaning work. It will be inconvenient for most people to work in the daytime. Therefore, a schedule should be proposed so that the cleaning lady can cope with her duties in a few hours, for example, in the evening, when office workers finish their working day, or in the morning, before the start of the main office hours.
It is convenient if such an employee will live or work near the office that needs to be cleaned - he will not need to spend extra money and time on the road, and the work will become more attractive for him.
Clearly formulated job responsibilities, preferably in writing, will also help to avoid mutual claims and misunderstandings. The wording “clean up where it’s dirty” does not fit categorically: people have different concepts of “dirty”.
Selection of candidates
The best option would be if one of your office workers wants to take on the responsibilities of cleaning the premises. The undoubted advantage will be that this is a person already known in the team, proven and reliable. This will eliminate the likelihood that the cleaning lady will do something wrong (mess up the documents, damage the equipment, etc.). By the way, cases of absenteeism and theft at the workplace can also be excluded.
If this option is not suitable, perhaps one of the office workers will remember their relatives or acquaintances in need of money. It can be a retired woman, responsible and still full of strength and health, a young mother on maternity leave, a student or even a high school student. As a rule, such people will not want to let down those who recommended them and will approach their responsibilities more responsibly.
If there are no such candidates, you can try to find an employee through an advertisement. A good option would be to post a notice directly in the office, as well as within walking distance from it. The more complete the announcement, the greater the likelihood of cutting off “professionally unfit” candidates at the very initial stage. But even an impeccably well-written ad does not guarantee that you will be able to immediately find the right person. You may have to take the risk of accepting a cleaning lady to begin with on probation.
