Certification of employees for their suitability for the position they hold is an optional procedure, with the exception of government agencies, unitary enterprises and some hazardous industries. But many employers carry out it on their own initiative and use it as a tool to improve the professionalism of employees, and, ultimately, to improve the quality of products and services provided.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not take certification as an attempt by management to put pressure on employees. Treat it as an incentive, an occasion to deepen your knowledge, expand your field of activity, show and prove yourself from the best side. Certification provides an opportunity to clearly understand what is required of you in the workplace and how you can improve the quality of your work. In addition, this is a great opportunity to unleash your potential in front of the leadership, which can lead to further career growth.
Step 2
It is important to tune in correctly and not treat certification as an exam at a university: you already have some work experience and you will not be able to lose the knowledge gained, even if you are very worried. The professional successes that you already have will give you self-confidence - after all, employees who have worked at this workplace for at least a year are certified. You should not think that since you are being subjected to such an exam, they doubt your professionalism and abilities, you should not expect a negative attitude towards yourself from the commission. The panel, usually made up of your senior colleagues and management, is initially well-disposed towards everyone undergoing certification. And remember that even a negative assessment is not a reason for your dismissal, but an incentive to draw conclusions and reconsider your attitude to work.
Step 3
Before preparing for certification, do not let the situation go by itself, even if you feel quite confident. Review the certification program and examine the questions that may be asked. Pay special attention to those normative documents and local acts, which you should be guided by in your work. Refresh them in your memory, read them carefully to be sure that you understand and do everything correctly.
Step 4
It doesn't hurt to take another look at your job responsibilities to make sure you are doing them in full. Read the Regulations for the department in which you work in order to have a general idea of its activities, goals and tasks facing it. Understand for yourself how your department interacts with other departments in the company. Correlate this with the principles of the international quality system, which is currently being implemented at most Russian enterprises. This theoretical knowledge should be enough for you to answer all the questions that the members of the commission may ask. Now the main thing is to be able to calmly and competently present this knowledge.
