With the right lighting, a study or office atmosphere will promote good productivity and efficiency at work. Whether you work in your home office or office space, the type and quality of lighting will affect your productivity. Poor lighting can ruin your mood, provoke eye strain and headaches, and impair your ability to work.
The light doesn't have to be direct
Avoid direct overhead light. Better think about how to make the light in the office diffuse softly. Lamp shades attenuate and split the harsh light, while an upward-facing floor lamp illuminates the walls and ceiling, from which the light hits you already reflected. The main goal is to create lighting that does not create harsh shadows and is not too bright.
Workplace lighting
To work at a computer, with files and similar activities, you need a separate light source. A desk lamp is perfect for this task. If there are several work points in the office, for example, a desk for working at a computer and another workstation for phone calls, a separate light source should be placed in each such work area.
Location of lamps
Always consider where the light sources are. The light behind you will most likely be reflected on the monitor screen and interfere with your work. See if the lamps are casting shadows on the table you are working on. For example, when you are writing or typing, shadows may appear on the right hand in low light conditions. You should also consider the location of the windows.
Natural light
Do not neglect natural light from the window. Sunlight provides a warm atmosphere in which to work. However, the Sun may be too bright at certain times. In this case, it does not hurt to think over a way to darken it. An ordinary curtain or screen will cope with this task.
Lighting in accents and interior design
In addition to the two main types of lighting, the workplace and the diffused light of lamps, you can add separate light accents. Lighting touches, such as luminous paintings or a fireplace, draw attention to the interior elements, and decorative lamps on the walls are pleasing to the eye.
