You graduated from high school. The time has come for freedom and independence, so desired and at the same time frightening in its uncertainty. If you intend to study seriously, it is at the age of 17-18 that you need to take a very important and responsible step - to choose a future profession. Choosing the right one is costly - it's your future. Work will be given at least a third of his life. What it will be - depends on you. The choice of a profession must be thought out in detail and systematically; haste can become an unforgivable mistake. Where to begin?
Instructions
Step 1
Get a general, but essentially clear vision of your desired career path. By whom, in what status, under what lifestyle, with what degree of professionalism, self-realization and even ambition you would like to see yourself, for example, in two five-year plans. If the answer is more or less definite, you will understand that some of the professions in your vision of the future do not suit you in principle.
Step 2
Analyze the facts of the already existing experience (school practice, everyday affairs), to what extent certain types of activities correspond to you. Your temperament, mindset. Do they come into conflict “with body and soul”? It's good if you have already had real things that made you happy with their result, brought satisfaction, made you feel like an adult and mature person. If you sit for hours with pleasure at the computer, have successfully mastered a difficult program, won the Olympiad and tirelessly strive for self-education in computer technologies - this is already a signal-reference point.
Step 3
For career guidance, an adequate assessment of your abilities in a particular field of activity is important. Someone "suddenly" begins to dream of a career as a designer, but, alas, draws more than mediocre, and erudition in the matter is zero. This is not serious. But if behind the back is successful study at an art school, and artistic taste has already been appreciated by awards, then the chance to succeed in a dream business is real.
Step 4
An important factor is the demand of society for the profession, its relevance. Study labor market trends in the region where you will live and work, analytical forecasts and research. Perhaps there are several specializations that suit you, or you are faced with a fifty-fifty choice. Stop your choice on the activity that will not fall into the category of "superfluous" in the coming years.
Step 5
A win-win option when all the factors influencing the choice of a profession happily coincided for you. Then the prospects for the future vocation are clear, and you can purposefully go towards the goal. It is more difficult if you do not have a clear idea of the desired activity and your potential at all. In such a situation, it is better to consult with competent professionals in the field of career guidance. Experienced consultants will help to objectively assess your capabilities and desires, provide useful information on the labor market, the relevance of professions. Many services in this area do not even resort to tests - only an interview and a long conversation.
