A tax deduction is a type of tax benefit. More precisely, a tax deduction is nothing more than a reduction in the tax base. That is, only taxpayers have the right to any tax deduction. At the moment, there are four types of tax deductions in our country: professional, standard, social and property. Any of them can be registered with the tax authority at the place of residence. And some, for example, property and professional, even at their place of work.
Necessary
- - Written statement;
- - documents confirming the right to receive a tax deduction;
- - payment documents (bank statements, receipts, cash and sales receipts);
- - contract of sale.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to issue a tax deduction at work, the first step is to collect documents that confirm the right to receive a tax deduction. Different documents are required depending on the type of tax deduction. If we are talking about a property tax deduction, which is provided to a taxpayer when buying or selling real estate, then the following documents may be needed:
- the passport;
- documents confirming the ownership of a particular property;
- payment documents (bank statements, receipts, cash and sales receipts);
- contract of sale.
Step 2
If we are talking about a professional tax deduction, then in this case, in addition to a passport, it is necessary to provide documents that confirm the costs incurred. A complete and accurate list of documents that must be collected in order to receive a particular tax deduction can be found in the accounting department at your place of work or from a tax agent.
Step 3
After all the documents are collected, the second step is to write an application. The application must indicate:
- where you write it, that is, the full and correct name of your tax authority or organization in which you work (in this case, you must also indicate the name of the person to whom you are writing this application);
- your passport data, that is, not only the series and number, but also by whom and when it was issued, as well as the address of your registration and TIN.
Step 4
The essence of the application should be a text about what exactly you are applying for, that is, you need to write that you want to receive such and such a tax deduction in such and such an amount. An in-house accountant or lawyer can help you write your application.
Step 5
When the package of documents is collected, and the application is written, it remains to take the third, last step - to give all this to the accounting department or a tax agent. In the future, they themselves will have to deal with all the necessary manipulations to get you the tax deduction you are interested in.
