The first step in finding a job is writing a resume. It would seem that difficult? They wrote about their education, listed their places of work, told about their experience. But why do some people get invited for interviews while other resumes go unanswered?
A well-written resume significantly increases the chances of getting a desired job. Even with insufficient work experience, a resume can be made in such a way that the employer will believe in your desire to work in his company.
A person spends one or two minutes looking at a resume. Therefore, approach it responsibly in its design. It is better if the text fits on one page of A4 sheet, but you should not reduce the font in an attempt to do the impossible. Write in traditional size 12 or 14 Times New Roman.
Organize the information into blocks using larger bold font for headings. Don't write complicated, long phrases and use lists. This will make your resume easier to read.
What to write about in your resume
In the upper corner, place a block with contact information: a phone number and an email address will be enough. It would be nice to insert your photo in a small size. The photo must be of good quality and official. It is best to be photographed shoulder-length.
Next, in the middle of the sheet, write your last name, first name and patronymic in large bold type.
It is better to start the main text with brief information about yourself: date of birth, marital status, presence of children, it is appropriate to indicate nationality.
After that, education is indicated. The later it is received, the higher it is. You do not need to list all the places where you studied if they are not useful in this company. For example, an art school will be superfluous when applying for the position of an office manager, and for a designer it will become an additional plus. If this is your first work, you can indicate the topic of the thesis after the name of the university.
Work experience is also written in reverse chronological order. You can indicate the positions you have held and the duties performed in brackets.
In the skills list: what programs you can work with, the level of computer skills, knowledge of foreign languages and your other qualities that are necessary for the desired position.
You can include a block with personal qualities. For example, accuracy, punctuality, responsibility. Write about your bad habits. Hobbies will help you better understand what kind of person is applying for the position.
What is not worth writing about
Do not write your physical parameters, height, weight, if you are not looking for a job as a model.
Home address information is also best kept silent. However, indicate your city if the job is in another.
If you do not ask, do not indicate the size of the desired salary and the reasons why you left your previous job.
