The law on the protection of children from information that could harm their health and development, adopted a year and a half ago, came into force on September 1, 2012. This bill has caused a lot of questions among the adult population of the country, since its content is vague, not everyone understands and gives rise to many jokes and conjectures.
The Law on the Protection of Children from Harmful Information applies to books, films and games, the Internet and printed materials. Children (and children are considered all persons under the age of 18) under no circumstances should be faced with pornography, scenes of violence and obscene language. Materials that may induce a child to take actions that pose a threat to his life and health, use drugs, tobacco and alcohol are prohibited. Information that denies family values and respect for elders is also banned. A person will have to get acquainted with all these phenomena only after the age of majority.
For some books included in the school curriculum, but nevertheless containing scenes of violence or eroticism, perhaps, they will make a relaxation - they will be classified as products of significant historical, artistic and other cultural value, and students will be allowed to continue to study the works of great authors.
The media will now have to tag their programs according to what category they belong to. Films and programs intended for children six and twelve years old may be left without a corresponding icon. Guys who are already thirteen can learn about the existence of tobacco, alcohol and promiscuous sex, but only in a negative context. Their presence should be marked in the program with the "12+" icon. Sixteen-year-olds can be shown light scenes of eroticism. Programs with such content must be labeled accordingly "16+". Responsibility will be established for the dissemination of harmful information among children, it is quite possible that also criminal.
Such a law is intended to instill in children highly moral values, to support morality and to contribute to the formation of a stable psyche. For adult viewers, this law threatens the lack of action-packed films in the evening. Action films, erotica and thrillers can be watched only after twenty-three hours.
