What is a database

The database is structured information about large arrays of homogeneous objects. For example, the database of taxpayers, which is maintained by tax inspectorates, contains information about the name of a legal entity, its address, the name of the head, etc. The city cadastre database may contain information about buildings located in the city: the material from which they are built, the number of floors, the owners of these buildings, etc. Any trade enterprise has a database on the types of goods, which indicates the name of the goods, its weight, cost, supplier, etc.

Essentially, a database is a table made up of rows and columns. Each column is a digital or text characteristic of an object, each row is a separate object. Such databases are created in specialized software products or, if the enterprise is small, ordinary spreadsheets can be used to create them.

The database allows you to automate the accounting of these objects, as well as analyze their state, make queries and selections according to some specific criteria. That is, to have the most complete information both about each individual accounting object and about their aggregate properties.

In order for this information to be as reliable as possible and to make it possible to make the right management decisions, it must be relevant, i.e. constantly replenished and updated. It is this addition of existing information and the introduction of information about new objects that the database operator is engaged in.

Database Operator Requirements

Maintaining databases is a very responsible job, but, of course, not everyone can do it. It is quite routine, and elements of creativity are not at all welcomed in it. The operator must enter information, trying to avoid mistakes, while there can be a lot of information. To do this, he will need such qualities of character as diligence, perseverance, attentiveness and responsibility.

To work as a database operator, a secondary vocational education is enough, but you will need a good knowledge of a computer, Excel spreadsheets or specialized software products. To maintain some databases that use images of accounting objects, you will need the knowledge of graphic editors or even Adobe Photoshop.
