What benefits are due to young mothers?
First of all, it is necessary to understand that the concept of "maternity leave" is absent in domestic legislation. This - very common - expression usually refers to a woman's parental leave under 3 years of age. Such leave begins the next day after the sick leave for pregnancy and childbirth ends. In practice, this means that a mother's maternity leave usually begins around the time her baby is 2.5 months old.
After the birth of a baby, a woman can receive several payments:
- a lump sum for the birth of a child;
- monthly allowance for caring for a child until he reaches the age of 1, 5 years;
- a monthly compensation payment on parental leave for a child under 3 years old.
What are the benefits?

According to the current legislation, the monthly allowance for caring for a child under 1, 5 years old is 40% of the average earnings for 2 years preceding the year of the mother's maternity leave. The third allowance is a relic of the "dashing 90s" era, when all kinds of laws were adopted aimed at social support of certain segments of the population, but payments for these documents were scanty. The amount of the monthly compensation payment has not changed since 1996, and today it is 50 rubles.
