The need to check a previously posted resume most often arises when a person who has not looked for a job for a long time, for some reason, needs to start this process again. Many job search sites provide users with the ability to store their resume in their private databases. But before you return your resume to the public domain, you need to adjust it and add the career changes that have occurred.
It is necessary
- - computer;
- - Internet access.
Instructions
Step 1
If the resume is stored in the database of a job search site that is not in the public domain, in order to view it, you need to log into your user account on this site. Most often, user identification is carried out by means of a username and password.
The easiest way is if you remember your username and password. In this case, you will be able to open your account without any problems and check all the resumes that are stored there (it is optimal if you are simultaneously applying for different positions, to have in your arsenal separate resumes, compiled taking into account the specifics of each of these positions), and if necessary - make adjustments to them.
Step 2
It is not uncommon, especially if you have not logged into your account for a long time, when you cannot remember your username and / or password. As a rule, on such sites there is a password reminder function (usually the link "Forgot your password?", "Remind password" or other similar in meaning). The procedure for identifying a user who has forgotten their login or password depends on the specific site.
The easiest option is to send an old password, a new (often temporary) password or a link to change it to your email address entered during registration.
The system can also ask for an answer, such as a security question.
Step 3
After recovering or replacing your password in accordance with the instructions of the system, you will get access to your account and the opportunity to check your resume and, if necessary, edit it taking into account all your career changes.
Step 4
It will also not be superfluous to check how your publicly available resume reflects. To do this, you need to use the interface of the job search site, where it is hosted, designed for employers. In the employee search section, open your industry, then the position you are applying for, and find your resume among other applicants for similar vacancies.
This search is useful in that it allows you not only to see how your resume appears to the employer, but also to understand how you compare to competitors. All this can be a reason for additional adjustments in the resume in order to improve it.
