In Russia, there are many benefits for various categories of citizens, whether they are disabled, participants in the Second World War, or military personnel. One of these categories eligible for benefits includes retirees.
Not enough for everyone
Despite the fact that the size of the minimum pension has reached the subsistence level, it is very difficult and practically impossible to live on it, since only about half of the pension is spent on paying for utilities, and no one is going to cancel taxes. But as for utilities, their payment can be reduced by applying for a subsidy. But what about constantly rising prices? In this case, you should be aware of possible state benefits for pensioners. However, with a large and varied number of benefits under the law of large preferential discounts, an ordinary pensioner will not receive from the state. Benefits can only be used on a demanding basis. And one should take into account the fact that the amounts of benefits required for the population generally exceed the amount allocated in the state budget for their repayment.
That is why there are often situations in which people who are legally entitled to benefits cannot receive them for years.
Types of benefits
Property tax benefits for pensioners. This article of the law states that pensioners do not pay taxes imposed on premises, structures, buildings. According to this clause, a pensioner who owns his own living space or non-residential (apartment, summer cottage, garage, house) does not pay real estate tax, regardless of the number of available premises.
To obtain this benefit, you must contact the tax department at the location of the premises with an application for a real estate benefit.
Land tax incentives for retirees. Land tax is a local tax, since the tax code does not include ordinary retirees among the persons who are granted benefits. However, there is a permit from the code to grant tax benefits to certain segments of the population. Therefore, in order to receive tax relief on a land plot, a pensioner must contact the local authorities at the location of this plot.
Reducing the cost of paying for utilities and housing. The housing subsidy is provided to citizens with utility bills for more than 22% of their total household income. The main condition for obtaining a subsidy is the absence of arrears for housing and communal services. It is necessary to apply for a subsidy at the social protection department at the place of residence.
Benefits from local and regional authorities. These benefits include transport tax exemptions for travel on public transport. Co-payments for medicines and food are also possible.
