A doctor is a difficult and often ungrateful profession. Not only does it take a very long time to study, but then many patients tend to blame the specialist for all mortal sins. But despite all the troubles, thousands of young doctors graduate from medical universities every year. However, in order to become full-fledged and professional doctors, for example, ophthalmologists, they still have a long way to go.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a specialization at the beginning of your studies at a medical university - a course for 1-2. After all, further you will need to attend additional lectures on the study of subjects that will be useful to you for work. So, for example, if you want to become an ophthalmologist, then you need to start an extracurricular internship as early as 3-4 years of age. To do this, you can get a job in sanitary or nursing positions in specialized clinics (they must be of III-IV level of accreditation). Here you will receive the necessary practical knowledge of your future profession, learn the secrets of mastery from honored doctors and gain invaluable experience of the first communication with real patients.
Step 2
You can become a full-fledged optometrist only on condition that you have a complete higher medical education. This means that you will be awarded a master's or specialist's degree. The basis for your diploma as an ophthalmologist will be the medical profession you have acquired. This means that by your basic education you must be a therapist. In the event that you want to become a pediatric ophthalmologist, you must have a pediatrician diploma. This is necessary as a guarantee that you have solid knowledge in such basic subjects as biology, anatomy, chemistry, Latin. If you have only a completed medical school behind you, then you will have to spend another 6-7 years of your life to enter and graduate from a higher educational institution in your chosen profile.
Step 3
A more in-depth study of a specialized subject begins either in the fourth year (if you are studying at the Faculty of Dentistry), or in the fifth year (for medical or military faculties). The main study of ophthalmology begins in the 6th year of a medical university. Firstly, during this period, preparation for the diploma begins, and secondly, students have already received a sufficient amount of practical and theoretical knowledge. Further, to become an ophthalmologist, students must complete an internship.
Step 4
After graduating from the medical university, you can already get a job in your specialty, i.e. become an ophthalmologist. However, it is too early to calm down on this. The key to the successful activity of the ophthalmologist will be regular professional development. This means that you will constantly have to participate in conferences, take additional lectures, study new research in the field of ophthalmology and develop your own scientific approaches to treatment. Only when all these conditions are fulfilled can you become a professional and highly qualified ophthalmologist.
