The difficult economic situation in the country in most cases affects, first of all, ordinary citizens. They are forced to face not only rising prices in all areas, but also with possible layoffs at work. However, layoffs can be avoided even in crisis conditions.
Assess your real chances of staying in the workplace. Often employers prefer to save on those employees, without whom you can do at least for some time. Under threat are marketers, PR managers, development directors, deputy specialists, employees of travel and recruiting agencies.
If you have been working in this company for a long time, you probably know well the strengths and weaknesses of your colleagues. It often happens that equally strong employees are selected in the team. In this case, you need to stand out from their background in a certain way. Keep in mind that you should not portray excessive activity or appeal to the pity of management (for example, talking about loans, young children, the need for treatment, etc.). Such behavior will only belittle and take into the background your professional qualities. It is necessary to act a little differently.
The management of the company should give you preference, based not on your personal situation, but because of your direct work. Take on a long term project within your position. If you do not have a project format, then develop an action plan to achieve certain indicators. It can be a set of anti-crisis measures, optimization of the work process, ways to attract new customers, ways to minimize costs. In this case, even a not very large-scale, but significant plan for the company may turn out to be useful.
Get ready for a pay cut. Determine in advance for yourself the minimum at which you can afford to stay in this job. If it is still more profitable for you to cut your expenses than to get laid off, prepare for such a situation so that it does not unsettle you. Try to negotiate at least approximate conditions for returning to the previous fees when the crisis is over.
If downsizing is unavoidable, try to make the most of it. Find out what compensation you are entitled to in this case. By law, you are entitled to severance pay equal to your average wage for the last year, and this amount is paid additionally within two months after you leave. If you have unused vacations, you can also count on paying for them. That is why you must go through the official reduction procedure, and not write an application of your own free will, since in the latter case you are not entitled to any payments.
The employer does not have the right to lay off pregnant women, single mothers (child under 14 years old) and young mothers with dependent children under 3 years old. In practice, however, this may not be the case. Your boss can force you to leave by writing a statement of his own free will. In this case, you have two ways: to defend your rights by contacting lawyers or the labor inspectorate, or to try to negotiate with the management bypassing such procedures and get some compensation.
