According to Russian law, a marriage contracted abroad is considered recognized and confirmed in Russia only if it is formalized in accordance with all the rules. Accordingly, it is necessary to worry in advance about collecting the necessary documents so that later there will be no unpleasant surprises.

What documents are needed for a wedding in the Czech Republic

Naturally, when they talk about getting married abroad, first of all they mean the necessary documents, without which you cannot get the cherished paintings and official titles of husband and wife. The list of required documents for a wedding in the Czech Republic includes:

- valid passports of both spouses;

- valid Russian passports;

- birth certificates;

- certificate of divorce (if at least one of them had one before);

- certificate of change of surname, name or patronymic, if such was;

- certificate of death of a spouse (if a widower or a widow enters into marriage);

- personal data (address of residence, date of birth, etc.).

If you are booking a wedding date, copies of the documents can be sent. However, for the ceremony itself, you only need the originals. And count on the fact that they will have to be translated and notarized.

In addition, three documents will need to be issued directly in the Czech Republic. These include: a certificate of civil status from the Consulate of Russia, a certificate from the police for foreigners, which is issued to confirm your legal presence in the country, and an application for marriage.

The cost of obtaining such documents, in cases where it is provided, is usually paid additionally. Even if you order a wedding from the organizers - this is not included in the basic package.

The nuances of getting married in the Czech Republic

A wedding ceremony in the Czech Republic can be carried out in 2 different ways: church and civil. When choosing a religious option, it should be borne in mind that it will not have legal force. Even though you are getting married voluntarily.

A marriage in the Czech Republic cannot be contracted in a number of cases. So, for example, you will not be able to get married if:

- one of the partners is already married;

- future spouses are relatives of each other;

- partners are minors;

A marriage that was entered into by force, fictitiously, not in the presence of officials from the municipality is recognized as invalid.

If all the formalities are met, it remains to choose a place for the wedding. And in this case, there are no restrictions in the law - you can sign in any registry office in the cities of the Czech Republic. If at least one of the couples getting married does not speak Czech, they will be provided with an interpreter for the ceremony. Moreover, in this situation, the absence of an interpreter becomes the reason for refusal to register.
