Vacation is a great time when you can finally devote yourself to all the pleasant activities for which there was not enough time during the working weeks - to visit friends and relatives, spend more time with children, go to relax. In Russia, vacation is at least 28 calendar days, but in other countries this figure is different.
How to relax in the USA
Vacation in the United States is not regulated in any way by law. The employer has the right to choose for what period of time he agrees to part with his employees for his own money. And, as a rule, this figure is 10 calendar days. Also, some firms increase paid leave for their employees as their seniority grows. Nevertheless, about 25% of residents of the United States do not have paid leave at all, and are forced to rest at their own expense.
In the meantime, every resident of neighboring Canada must rest for at least five weeks a year.
Length of vacation in Europe
In Europe, the situation with paid vacations is better than in America. In many countries - Sweden, Finland, Denmark - workers are entitled to five weeks' leave. In France, the number of days for rest varies depending on how many hours an employee works per week. Those who prefer the 39-hour instead of the standard 35-hour receive two additional paid weeks by the five due, which they are free to dispose of at their own discretion.
Also, in a European company, employees receive paid leave for family reasons, such as a wedding, the birth of a child or the death of a relative. And in the UK, many firms give their employees several paid days so that they can tidy up their appearance - visit a hairdresser, beautician, go shopping and perform many important procedures, which usually do not have enough time.
Some companies give extra vacation days to non-smokers or those who are not overweight, thereby rewarding people with healthy lifestyles.
Holidays in Japan
The Japanese are a hardworking nation, and it is considered bad form to take long vacations from them. According to the legislation of the Land of the Rising Sun, working citizens are entitled to eighteen days of paid rest, but most Japanese prefer to rest for 8-10 days and return to work for the benefit of their native company.
Shortest vacation
There are also record-breaking countries whose employers provide their employees with the shortest paid leave. Residents of Asian countries have the least rest. Hindus can lie on the beach at the expense of the employer 12 days a year, the Chinese rest 11 days. Prosperous South Korea devotes just 10 days to its diligent workers, and Hong Kong even less. Official leave lasts only a week there.
