Step 1
Content analysis is one of the most productive and inexpensive methods. It is used in the fields of politics, media, science, medicine, psychology. Thanks to it, informative results are obtained, which are inherent in objectivity. Content analysis is a kind of study of various materials to determine your own conclusion. This will be a conclusion about the content of any publication, or its statistics. According to the purposes of the analysis, two types are distinguished - quantitative or qualitative content analysis. Quantitative analysis will be the calculation of any data on the publication, collection of statistics (the number of words, tables, phrases and other parameters of the text). A qualitative analysis will be the calculation of any data, facts that are important for the researcher and his work.
Step 2
Any content analysis consists of 3 stages: -determination of the object of analysis; -quantitative counting of references to the object of research, identification of interdependencies and connections; -interpretation and evaluation of the data obtained, identification of prospects for research or the object under study.
Step 3
Content analysis is aimed at studying obvious materials and identifying the real meaning in the text. In addition to conventional calculations, complex statistical techniques (for example, correlation) are actively used.
Investigating a specific problem for analysis, one should select works not only of any particular author. You should find other sources on the topic and carry out the same analysis and apply a comparative research method. It should also be taken into account that the analysis is based on the judgments of a particular researcher, therefore it is not always possible to talk about the objectivity of the study. The more researchers who analyze one source, the more likely it is to obtain a high level of research objectivity. This is due to the fact that in the end more people come to a consensus.
